Description

The automotive industry has played a lead role as Mexico moved along the track to industrial diversification in the first decade of the 21st century. The industry, solvent and robust as few in Latin America, has made a qualitative and quantitative leap to generate 6 percent of GDP and 18 percent of the manufacturing industry. This sector hopes to reach a ceiling of 5 million units manufactured in 2020 and has become one of the most dynamic sectors in Mexico. However, the political change in the US could affect an industry that bases a large part of its growth on exports to its northern neighbor, where at the same time sales have declined.
