For many years, the energy sector was monopolized by oil and gas. However, the Energy Reform has brought a new range of possibilities to the industry, including the use of clean and renewable energy sources to power the country. The sector, key to the structural development of the republic, has opened to private participation. There have been blips along the way as regulators continue to shape operating frameworks. While there is still much to be done, local and international investors are already betting on the sector and the future is looking increasingly optimistic.
